Blair (Chezze) Skevington – Co-owner
Blair has a real entrepreneurial spirit. He began his career as a baker and sawmill labourer, but at age 19 took on the lease of a rundown hotel with a business partner. Together, they built up the North Western Hotel in Palmerston, located between Oamaru and Dunedin.
Never one to rest, Blair started contracting work and was eventually offered a full-time position with Macraes gold mine in various departments. He then progressed to become a crane operator for Macraes before seizing the opportunity to start his own contracting business. From there, Skevingtons was born. The business completes work mainly in the Otago region but undertakes work throughout the South Island.
Blair believes that one of the secrets to success is having happy staff to fulfil your clients’ needs and expectations. He has a strong can-do attitude and a strong focus on meeting customer demand in the South Island for the mining, irrigation, and construction families.
